Why I Started Contemplative Monk
The reason I started Contemplative Monk is that I've had a recurring dream since I was seven.
I'm walking up this babbling stream, deep in a mountain forest, searching for something. I step over the rocks, as the early morning sunlight shafts through the mists in the hemlock trees.
I excitedly breathe in the fresh mountain air, soaking in the beautiful flowering rhododendrons.
I steady my feet and feel the cold waters and sands beneath my feet. It's one of those moments you can feel everything falling into place.
I search and search. climbing up the mountain stream, when I see it. There, buried in the mud along the banks, gems of all shapes and sizes, covered in mud and silt. I dig them up out, washing them off one by one, holding them up to the light. Then the dream ends.
I realized it's jewels of Wisdom. There are so many things we've lost and buried in our traditions. Things that should never have been forgotten. Most of them are in full sight, but we really don't see or we've forgotten what was once priceless.
So come along and let's walk together on this pilgrim journey home.
Now may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us and abide in us forever.
